Jeff Van Gundy's defense of Khloe Kardashian was totally random and totally correct

Jeff Van Gundy's defense of Khloe Kardashian was totally random and totally correct
Early into the first quarter of the fourth game of the NBA Finals, a series where Cleveland hasn’t been able to grab a win, Jeff Van Gundy demanded an apology for everyone who blamed Khloe Kardashian for the team’s woes.

And he’s 100 percent right.Noting that she was “an easy target”, Van Gundy asked what other significant others had been blamed when their boyfriends or husbands teams didn’t play well in the finals: LeBron James’s wife in 2015? Ayesha Curry in 2016? Nowhere near the amount of internet venom that Kardashian has gotten.

A number of people watching found it more surreal that Van Gundy was even talking about a Kardashian during the NBA Finals.

This isn’t the first time Khloe Kardashian’s been blamed for an NBA player’s bad year — she was called a distraction when she dated James Harden and Rashad McCants decided she was the reason his NBA career didn’t work out to what he thought it should have.

But it’s not fair. It’s the same reason it wasn’t fair when people blamed Jessica Simpson for Tony Romo’s woes. Or Kim Kardashian’s for Reggie Bush’s. The list goes on.

Sure, she’s famous. And sure, we might be a little smarter if we spent a little less time trying to keep up with her family.

But she’s not the reason anyone she’s dating is playing badly. And Van Gundy’s right: Putting the blame on her — or any significant other — is unfair.
